BEST ALBUM OF THE 1980s

HUNTING HIGH AND LOW by a-ha is without a doubt the best album of the 80s. These songs had beat and a melody. I think a group like 98 degrees is starting to discover this. If you listen to their latest music, I think they are heading in this direction. Every song on HUNTING HIGH AND LOW is good. There is no waste here. Magne Furuholmen, Paul Waaktaar, and Morten Harket created a masterpiece of melodies, lyrics, vocals and synthesized effects. `Take On Me' may have suffered the fate of overkill or more appropriately overplay, but it is their still most identifiable song in the United States and a good one. Songs like `Blue Sky,' `Living A Boys Adventure Tale' and `Here I Stand And Face The Rain' are masterpieces long forgotten for many people except for a few of us. Morten Harket's voice has such a range that it can not even be categorized. Is it a great voice? I don't know. I do know that it is undeniably unique and it fits in front of the instrumentals like no one else's voice possibly could. Yes, it is a great voice. Listen to `The Sun Always Shines On TV.' It's incredible. Why did people in the United States never discover the innovative greatness of a-ha? We will never know!
