This is incredibly astounding. I loved Mer de Noms, Thirteenth Step I never got to listen to, not even the singles, but THIS! I haven't been this surprised with music for a long time. This is totally different from Mer de Noms, songs are more ballad-ish than anything, so straight of the bat this isn't an album you deal with on the same level you deal with Mer de Noms, this takes you completely off guard.
Yes, some songs are covers which have been tortured and murdered and given new unnatural life by APC. "Imagine" by Lennon is given a dirtier feel, "what's going on" sounds pink floydy (which is cool), People are People (Depeche Mode) is completely unrecognizable and I can't describe what it sounds like, but "gimmie gimmie gimmie"'s sarcasm and irony just won my heart, no to mention death metal singing with a distorted ballad that the guys from Deftones would only fantacize about.
My advice is don't go into it judging if they're better than the original, because you probably won't be able to compare them to anything. They're just different, but good nontheless.

Definitly the best album I've heard all year... untill the new NIN album comes out... I hope...
