I received this C.D. as a gift. I normally wouldn't buy Aaliyah records but after her death, i wanted to check out what she had to offer. I really only knew her from her few popular singles "are you that somebody", "try again", etc. anyway i was really suprised by her maturity and depth on this album. from the opening track "we need a resolution" and it's slithering synth beats to the seductive "rock the boat". the album was a perfect 10. On "More than a woman" , Aaliyah's voice is nearly muted out by the blazen quitar licks, but it is still a danceable jem. I also liked the chill "it's whatever" which convenes the comfortable atmosphere one feels when inlove. Another standout is "i care 4 u" which is classic missy production. It's beautiful and perfectly evokes Aaliyah's aura. My favorite track on the record is "never no more". Its sexy beat and Aaliyah's soft cooing of a voice almost make you forget that it's about an abusive relationship. Nevertheless, It is a beautiful song w/ Aaliyah's soft , lush, and in this song very forceful voice surrounded by thick piano and dramatic strings. Overall this album is a most for hip hop and r&b fans alike!
