...i'm honestly giving Aaliyah 3 stars for this album. I'm putting away her being dead as a factor and going on the music. I feel like she lost a lot of points with me because she didn't write any of her songs. To many, thats not much, but to me, that rates your true level of talent, being able to write the lyrics you sing.
Next the songs were not that good. She had 4 good songs (We Need a Resolution, Rock The Boat, More Than A Woman and I Care 4 U). I felt like a little too much time was taken with this album and that it went for more of a Norah Jones feel and not the Hip-Hop RnB combo most of us want to hear.
Now I see a lot of people comparing Ashanti to her saying Ashanti will never be Aaliyah. Truthfully I don't think Ashanti was aiming for Aaliyah. I believe Ashanti has much more talent than Aaliyah. Vocally, Aaliyah showed minimum range where as Ashanti has showed just a small piece of what she can do vocally. Writing, Ashanti's lyrics are off the hook because she writes them, Aaliyah didn't write hers. Ashanti made a bigger impact than Aaliyah, winning every single award Aaliyah didn't win including the prestigous Grammy. Ashanti sold 8 million copies of "Ashanti". She's been really outdoing Aaliyah + many RnB artist and Ashanti deserves the Princess of Hip-Hop and RnB crown, not Aaliyah.

I know for a fact that their are so many fake Aaliyah fans out there. Many people only love her because she's dead now and diss Ashanti because she has the looks the hair the voice and the success that Aaliyah never got. Well i'm not giving out any free passes because its not fair to Ashanti and its not fair to Aaliyah being put up higher than she deserves. So i'm recommending for you to buy Ashanti- Ashanti over Aaliyah- Aaliyah.
