I am not typically a fan of R&B music. In fact, I listen to classic rock and singer/songwriters. I have more than 200 CDs and less than ten R&B albums (Mary J. Blige and Alicia Keys among them). I don't have a problem with R&B- it just isn't my favorite. I knew who Aaliyah was because I had seen her on MTV. I thought she was an incredibly nice person and I always enjoyed watching her videos and interviews.

I was on vacation when I found out that she had passed away. I remember the exact moment. It was almost midnight and I was casually flipping channels. I heard the news from the TV Guide channel. I had never bought one of her albums... never even thought about it. I wasn't a fan of Aaliyah's. And I felt sick to my stomach.

Her death changed my life and I wasn't even a fan. That shows how far reaching her touch was. It just made me realize that anything could happen to anyone at any time. Life is cruel and it can take wonderful people from us. I am not shy in admitting that I bought this album because of Aaliyah's passing.

But I give the album five stars for the music, not because of Aaliyah's death. Every song on this album is wonderfully crafted. They make you feel warm and happy. They make you want to dance. Aaliyah's voice is beautiful and it rings clear and true throughout the entire album. The highlight is "I Care 4 U" because it is such a beautiful song. It really makes you feel and that's what music should do.

Do yourself a favor and buy this CD. It doesn't matter what kind of music you listen to. This is wonderful for all music lovers.
