A Little Overrated But A Great Memory of Baby Girl

Review Score: StarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStar (8/10)
It seems as if nowadays every artist concentrates on a Top 40 hit and forget about the meaninig of music. "Aaliyah" has broke the mold. If every artist would put this kind of effort into their work, then it would probably be worth-listening to. But anyways, Aaliyah proved to the world that she truly had what it took to become the next legend. As a matter of fact, at her short age of at 22, people consider her a young-timeless legend that very few achieve. At least, I do. This is just an outstanding piece of artwork which was overrated by the ashes of her absence. But let's look pass the fact and talk a little about "Aaliyah". The album starts with a very unique song. The first single off "Aaliyah", "We Need A Resolution" This song is an outstanding mid-tempo track produced by the genius Timbaland. Aaliyah's strong, yet, silky haunting voice top the Egyptian-erotic melody confining it to become a sensation of pleasure and agreement between a troubled couple. "Loose Rap" featuring Static from Playa is a another great mid-tempo track. Letting her man know not to come at her with his "Loose Rap". Its a very nice song where you feel able to dance and relate to...basically she "has something for all the fools...it ain't just rythm 'n blues". "Rock The Boat" steps up the album to another level. One One of my favorite tracks on the album. Man, this one's a definetely sex-leading track which doesn't fall to explicitness or degradability, instead teaches you the beautiful side to romance with Aaliyah's smooth, angelical voice what else could you ask for? To this, "More Than A Woman" follows up. A Timbaland produced track, it has the bass, the drums, the highs and throbbing sounds that make you get up and move to this joint. Aaliyah's Grammy-nominated track as Best R&B Female Vocal Performance. Clear to see why. "Never No More" a ballad translating the pain of a woman when her man lays hand on her. You could feel the pain and sorrow of a woman who is afraid to comfront him due to the situation. "I Care 4 U" an instant R&B classic powered by the beautiful vocals of Aaliyah. Definetely one of my favorite tracks not only from Aaliyah herself but from what I have so far heard in my life. No hype here. Its real. "Let me talk to you, let me comfort, don't you know...I Care 4 You". "Extra Smooth" is a good danceable track with nice drums highlighting another exposition of "Try Again". I like it. "Read Between The Lines" a very latin-inspired up-tempo song. The story of a man rushing in and out the door not explaining why. But she ain't no fool, she could read between the lines. I could dance to this. "U Got Nerve" since the first second it starts playing, it catches your ear with the big bass and the bumping drums. This track invites you to get up and move while singing to the lyrics. "I Refuse". I find it hard to believe releasing this as a single, but even if it would another classic at hand. It starts out with the piano-melody leading to an intense uprising second by second. It rises so much that you could hear opera-choruses staggering the background while Aaliyah sings it out like no one else would. What makes it better is the rain pouring-the horse running as if you wanted to get away from this. Very dramatic song. Very well done. Props to you Aaliyah. The longest track on the album definetely one of the best ballads. "Its Whatever" relieves the pain suffered in the previous track. Another piano with bass-powering track. Not your usual ballad. But Again very smooth. It brings you down from the intensity of "I Refuse". "I Can Be" without a doubt, many's favorite outstanding track on the record. I love how Aaliyah did something I never heard before. She brought a mixture of rock-influenced yet-keeping it to the R&B esque level that makes this sound so damn good! The shortest song on the album and another good one. You feel grabbed into it when it drops its beat you feel pumped up ready for more. "Those Were The Days" very good song separating two rock-lead tracks and its just what the album needed to make it 5 star deserving. "What If" is another rock-lead track that makes its mark. With the almost static-bumping-guitar-riffing bass and making another statement of maturity. Last but not least the hidden track "Messed Up" ends the album with a good vibe of almost trans music. Its strange but good. In conclusion. If you don't have the "Aaliyah" go get it because you don't know what you're missing.
