Aaliyah has proven that she is truly an artist. Once again, Aaliyah ventured outside of the R&B walls, but this time Aaliyah decides to explore styles that only a few have tested in R&B.
On this album, she delivers the usual Hip-Hop and R&B tracks but she adds a little hard rock and metal influenced tracks such as "I can be" and "What if" as well as more mellow bluesy tracks like "I Care 4 U" and the Latin influenced track, "Read between the Lines".

Some of the higlights on this album include: "I Care 4 U", "I Refuse", "Rock the boat" and "We Need a Resolution".

On "I Care 4 U", a piano driven love ballad, shows more of Aaliyah's soft but delicate vocals which make this song an instant classic.

Another great piano driven ballad, " I refuse", displays Aaliyah at her best. She delivers a solid performance that showcases her vocals and intense emotion in the song.

"Rock the boat", obiviously a bedroom song, has enough power to lure anyone to the bed with Aaliyah's soft and seductive voice.

"We Need a Resolution", a Timbaland produced track, is definetly one of the Best productions that have been done in the last 5 years. Not your average up tempo but with Aaliyah's soft vocals flowing over the smooth Hip-Hop beats, it will immediately grab the listeners attention.

Overall "Aaliyah" is an impressive album from someone who was just about to explode and break new barriers in Music before her fatal plane crash. This album is definitely recommended to people who love MUSIC and want a little spice.
