Aaliyah

A big change, but a good one

Review Score: StarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStar (8/10)
Being a huge Aaliyah fan and waiting for five years for her new album, I got her new cd the day it came out on July 17, 2001. When I popped it into my cd player and scanned each song, I was caught by surprise. Her One in A Million album was my all time favorite r&b album, and most of the songs on this new one didn't sound anything like her previous one. Slighty disappointed, I started listening to all the songs and started realzing that even though it was a big change, it turned out to be a good one. No longer was she the club-beats 17 yr old girl on this album like her previous ones, but that she had matured beautifully as a 22 year old in her music. The first three songs: We Need a Resolution, Loose Rap, and Rock the Boat were my favorite ones, along with Never No More and I care for you. A must get for hard-core Aaliyah fans who would support her no matter her style of music. It's sad that many people have just started appreciating her music and movies after her death and not before, but it's a good thing that she was always appreciated by her fans. Rest in Peace babygirl.
