Alternative Strikes Again

This album is one of the climaxes of alternative music, along with Clumsy (Our Lady Peace) and Dizzy Up The Girl (Goo Goo Dolls). This album is a must-have for fans of either of these bands. The alternative music with a powerful, almost techno-style beat, guitars that growl and croon, and charismatic vocals makes this a "diamond in the rough" or whatever that phrase was in Disney's Aladdin. Although this band is highly unerrated like many other very good bands I know (Gaining Loss comes immediately to mind), it is at least as good, if not better than some of the more ballyhooed bands like Metallica and Korn. Actually, in my humble opinion, the Abandoned Pools are to Korn as an ocean is to a puddle.
Tracks like Start Over and Sunny Days would not be out of place on a Goo Goo Dolls album, while one would expect songs like The Remedy, Monster, and Mercy Kiss to appear on Clumsy. In all, it is one of the best albums of 2001! I encourage you to give it a listen.
