Of course, Juggalos will buy this without reading any amazon.com reviews. I mean, what's less trustworthy than a review written by an average internet juggahoe???
But I think that I have a different approach to reviewing this dichotomy of a debut album by ABK.
If you look at the liner notes, you'll notice that not only more than half of the tracks have guest appearances by other Psychopathic Records artists, but some of the Anybody Killa's rhymes were penned by the likes of Violent J, Jamie Madrox, and Esham.
When I buy an album from any artist, I look for a cohesive artistic vision. "Hatchet Warrior" does not offer one. Instead it has a tracklist that flows together nicely, but really only hints at ABK's vibrant personality. So, of course, the rhymes he wrote himself on this disc came out better than the ones written by Violent J on "Ya Neden's Haunted" which is a pretty stupid song to begin with and something only Violent J himself could get away with - I'm sorry.
In short, Blaze's former hypeman's CD may be worth picking up just to play it casually around the house or while traveling (if you have a really good sound system, and low-end mixes please you to no end). But it does disappoint as a debut album by an energetic stage performer and entertaining rapper. I would reccomend seeking out all of his guest spots on Psychopathic recordings and ICP's "Bootlegged in L.A." DVD.
