Good packaging, slightly questionable track selection.

Bon Scott is one of the reasons I finally started listening to AC/DC, and this boxed set is for the ultimate Bon Scott fan. Great packaging (in the case of boxed sets, this counts), with dumb but fun things like the bottle-opener key chain, fake tattoo, poster, and a good-looking booklet. The liner notes aren't as informative as they should be, but in attitude they match the AC/DC mentality pretty well. The CDs themselves leave some things to be desired, though. Even though the whole band sounds great live, there's a substantial amount of overlap in tracks. If they didn't have enough tracks to fill out four live CDs, perhaps some rarities, outtakes, B-sides and such (if they exist) would've been welcome. Either that, or the set could've been shaven down to three concise live CDs. The inclusion of Back in Black, of course, was an interesting, welcome touch and actually makes a statement about the band, its relationship to Scott, and the impact of replacement vocalist Brian Johnson.
I don't regret getting this boxed set, but I can't help thinking there could've been more to this set.
