PROS:
-You get a booklet filled with rare photographs, quotations, and band history! If you're gonna do a box set, you may as well include the history that goes along with the band!
-Five discs, all of which are excellent, make up the set.
-Three discs consist of rare, live recordings that were previously unreleased on compact disc outside this collection. If you like live ACDC material, that's reason alone to buy the collection.
-One disc consists of rarites and early demos. You even get the band's rare cover of Chuck Berry's School Days, which has to date only been available on the band's Australia-only T.N.T. album!
CONS:
-A major problem with this set is that the price is all over the place. I've seen it anywhere from $30 to $80. If you're gonna buy this, make sure you get the best deal!
-Casual fans aren't going to want to give this set a chance due to the (usually) high price.
-Why the hell is Back In Black in this set!? The set's called Bon Fire, not Brian Fire! And YES, the version of Back In Black in this collection is just the normal one - it's not early demos with Bon singing, like I was hoping for.
OVERALL:
This set isn't perfect by any means, but it's still an excellent look at one of rock's finest and most underrated lead vocalists of the past. If you own all of the albums featuring Bon Scott on lead vocals, but you feel like there's still a void in your ACDC collection, this may be the way to fill that void. The set is recommended, but make sure you get the best deal on it!
