One of the most compelling pop albums ever

Aimee Mann is lanky, pale, and has floppy doll-like hair. She looks slightly boyish. This image, combined with her voice, which though intended to sound happy over the happy poppy music, has a sadness and vulnerability that makes her all the more compelling. There is a honesty and purity in her voice which you do not find with many singers. Most of the song on this album are about a broken relationship ( perhaps with Jules Shear). The lyrics are poignant. The songs are not so much like water the way Sarah M's song are. Rather, they are very well crafted pop songs. What makes the album so compelling is the way she delivers them. One of the best pop records ever recorded!
