P.T. Anderson wrote the film 'Magnolia' based on all of Aimee's songs. Owning all of her previous albums, it was fun to point them out and try to distinguish them in the film. We've heard some of these songs before on other albums, but there is some great new stuff like Aimee's cover of 'One' that plays in the beginning of the film. 'Momentum' is also really powerful. Aimee was nominated for an Academy Award for her song 'Save Me' that channels a lot of the characters in the film who really are in need of saving, esp. the character of Claudia (played wonderfully by Melora Walters) who P.T. Anderson put a lot of Aimee's qualitites into. Not only is 'Magnolia' one of my favourite films, but this truly is one of the great soundtracks. Also, the two songs by Supertramp are great. The only misstep is the dumb song by Gabrielle, 'Dreams'. It's played in the background of the film and doesn't seem necessary. Jon Brion (the genius music producer, who produced a lot of Aimee's music) did the score to the film and the last track is great. You should check out the Complete Score to the film, alongside this. My favourite song is 'Wise Up' which is played at my favourite part of the film, when all the characters sing this song. This truly is amzing work.
