I just reviewed an album with a similar flavor to eye in the sky; in that able musicians and singers loose the soul that's supposed to accompany the music. We've all heard those overproduced records that may contain fine musicianship yet you feel something missing. "Eye in the Sky" is definately that way, i may not be good at describing it, but i just get a feeling when listening to it that the record was recorded with an absense of "understanding of music". A great musician hardly ever lets this vile pest make it's way into their creation. Take for example: John Lennon, Elvis Costello, Peter Gabriel, Louis Armstrong etc... who have all had huge musical outputs and people naturally gravitate towards their productions because they have a sense of "realness" to them, they bare their soul to you. Melodically catchy and lyrically ok, Eye in the sky is not a total artistic loss, it has some high points and worthwhile listening mixed throughout. I wouldn't buy another Parson's record though, there's just too many good artists i haven't tried yet.
