Alanis Morissette

MTV Unplugged

Never mind the others

Review Score: StarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStar (10/10)
Ignore the "professional" reviewers who think that they know good music when they hear it. Those who say that this album is anything but superb have incorrectly labeled the music.
It is true that all but three of the songs on this album are off of her other two national-release albums. That is of no point, though, because they come back to life with new emotions, once again thought over, and with totally different music, for the most part.
The harsh songs "Joining You", "Ironic", and "You Oughta Know" transform completely into sorrowful ballads of human life, seeming almost seperate from their studio counterparts.
The only miniscule thing that I found to be upsetting was that Alanis would sing some songs ("I Was Hoping" and "These R the Thoughts", for example) with a slow rhythm until nearing the very end, where thay basically send a flood of instrumentals and suddenly stop.
But, all in all, you will never know Alanis until you hear her perform live, and this is one of the best places to find her in that state.
