i love this recording... there's no way to say it really. it's a great alternative though not as fun as going to one of her concerts. her voice is just superb, proving that she is not like most artist nowdays who are so commercially produced that they lack authenticity and emotion. this alanis is a new person, contemplative, less angry and generally more subdued and matured. my favourite tracks includes "king of pain" a superb rendering of the police song, "no pressure over cappucino", the really evocative "that i would be good" and "joining you",which is wonderfully different from the album version, sort of more emotional. alanis takes the trouble to give the feeling of closeness to her audience and it really seems as if she's performing to her friends and family. the recording has an earthy feeling to it and i love the addition of violin players which give the performance a little more soul to it.her rendering of "you oughtta know" still has a sting to it but it seems that she's just sad rather than angry of the whole thing. but don't assume that she's mellowed, only that this album focuses more on her slower tracks. buy it. really.
