No longer just a guilty pleasure

For a long time, I kind of liked Alanis. You know what I mean, I disliked the whole angst thing, but her songs were catchy. They were a little overproduced and her voice was a little annoying so I never bothered to buy the first album. I recently saw Alanis with Tori Amos on tour and she almost out performed Tori, one of the best live performers there is. I bought this album, and was surprised at the poignancy and happiness. "You Learn" is excellent as well as the brave, uplifting "That I Would Be Good." It is acoustic, so you can't really go wrong with production. I like it a lot, and I'm looking forward to more from her as she continues to find her own voice and not just the voice of her producers.
