I never thought I'd be saying this...but Alanis Morrissette is the most emotional, poignant, meaningful, rock-your-heart-out-loud AWESOME artist since Sinead O'Connor. Alanis's last two records have made an impact and a difference in my life. I was on the brink of hell when 'Infatuation Junkie' came out in 98. I had hated her music prior to this record, but when somebody turned me onto that album I was blown away. I KNEW she was REAL. I took her CD along when I left the country for Europe, determined to either find some kind of happiness or end it all. I listened to Alanis in Egypt, in Athens, in Santorini, in Brindisi, in Rome, and, finally, at Christmastime, in Florence. I sat alone on top of a 500 year old castle, thinking nobody cared but looking out over the incredible Tuscan hillside, and her music cut me to the heart. I knew that SOMEONE else felt it. I knew that SOMEONE else KNEW. Go sit on the walls of the Medici Castle in Florence and listen to 'That I Would Be Good' or 'Joining You' and then TELL ME that Alanis Morrissette doesn't MEAN IT, BABY! This MTV Unplugged album brings back so many memories for me, so many good feelings, so many salvific moments. Her voice empowers. Her talent is spectacular. I am thankful for Alanis Morrissette. For a guy who needed to hear powerful, heartfelt, devastating music at a low-high point, this woman CAME THROUGH WHEN I NEEDED HER. God Freakin Bless Alanis Morrissette.
