Alanis Morissette

Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie

VERY VERY underrated

Review Score: StarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStar (10/10)
The second cd from Alanis Morissette is very very good, great actually. I really like it better than Jagged Little Pill. Alanis' albums are all snapshots of her life at that time. In the making of JLP, she went through a lot of pain. During SFIJ, she didn't go through as much pain. However, I disagree with those who think only pain can make good music. Good music is something that deep and something that is honest. While JLP was all of those things, SFIJ goes on a different path to achieve its lyrical deepness (the lyrics are very crazy, and that's what makes it good). The reason why people don't remember Alanis for this record is that it isn't what "angry". In other words, to fully appreciate it you have to stop and analyze it (which isn't what most people do). Its a work of art thus better than JLP becuase of its depth.

running time - 71:50

1. front row - **** Lyrically, this is the best song on the cd (also the longest) With the amount of lyrics in this song, you could probably write a short novel. It's about Alanis and her lover, and why they shouldn't be togehter.

2. baba - ***** KICK [bottom] rock song about fake gurus.

3.thank u - ************** this is my fave alanis song of all time, its sooo good. The video for it very underrated along with the album.

4. are you still mad - **** good song about alanis asking forgiveness from a lover she did wrong (on JLP, it was the other way around).

5. sympathetic character - **** musically, it's the weakest song, but it's very sad if you pay attention to the words.

6. that i would be good - *********** WHAT GOT INTO HER MIND??!! if this song was released as a single, i believe SFIJ would have sold much more. excellent

7.the couch - **** cool song with a cool beat about psychology

8. can't not - ***** one of the discs stronger points

9. UR- ***** sounds like it was cut off JLP

10. i was hoping - **** good.

11. one - **** good, but gets redundant after a while

12. would not come - ******* kick [bottom] song with a cool beat about satisfaction in life.

13. unsent - ***** this was a single, but it never got airplay. its very good.

14. so pure - ***** alanis can make a dance song just as good as any janet jackson can

15. joining you - ***** good song about not encouraging someone commiting suicide

16. heart of house - ***** moving

17. your congratulations - ***** soulful vocals

overall - a kick [bottom] album - go get it!!!
