Alice Cooper

Brutal Planet

Mankind dont look so good...

Review Score: StarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStar (10/10)
Was always aware of Alice Cooper when I was growing up in the 70s (tho I was solely a proghead up till the late 70s). I had a tape of Goes To Hell back in the early 80s and its been a fave ever since. Then I began picking up LPs, getting more interested, yknow...then Hey Stoopid came out, and man I was hooked! So when Brutal Planet came out I knew I had to hear it. Jeez. Its like the man has taken a step back, looked over Humanity with a cold hard eye, and pronounced it 'disgusting'. Savage commentary, thats what this is, and allied with storming, ear grabbing riffs. I mean, this is like an unholy hybrid of Alice Cooper and Tony Iommi, ferchrissakes! But basically, its a terrific album, more theme than concept I think, and the things AC is talking about (in lyrics that bite so damn deep) wont stop being relevant in the years to come. And yeah, I've got my ticket, can't wait to see this live...
