I first got into Alice Cooper in 1985, when a friend lent me a copy of "Welcome To My Nightmare". I was 13 and well aware of songs like "I'm Eighteen", "School's Out", "Clones" and etc. Since then, I had searched out anything I could find from him. As the years have passed I have seen MANY Rock Artists come and go. But here it is, the Year 2000, and we STILL can get BRAND NEW music from a true Rock Legend! Alice has never let me down and "Brutal Planet" is no exception! I am amazed at how POWERFULL this Album is!(Lyrically and Musically). The title track kicks off the album with a mid-tempo groove that brings on the feeling like "somethings gonna happen here", and something does. Eleven (AWESOME) grim tales on the state of the world. The lyrics are an accurate description of what's wrong with society today. The music is completely dark and very modern Hard Rock. Strangely though, it Still retains the feel of a great Alice Cooper Album! Kinda like getting a phone call, or reading a letter, from an old friend. The whole album is one big high point, although, I do favor "Blow Me A Kiss", "Eat Some More", "Pick Up The Bones", "Take It Like A Woman" and "Cold Machines". What else can I say, but do yourself a favor a pick up "Brutal Planet" and also, do not miss The Coop on tour this summer. After 30+ years, it's probably still the best Sideshow on the road.
