Made the other grunge bands look like garage bands

In my view Alice in Chains is tied with Soundgarden for being the best band to come out of Seattle, only Alice in Chains got labeled as a grunge band when they really weren't at all. In fact, AIC was really a metal band that had a lot of melody and crunching guitars courtesy of the great Jerry Cantrell. The classic "Man in the Box" is here, as is what I believe is the best AIC song ever, "Love, Hate, Love", where lead singer Layne Staley sings of a lost love and sounds very homicidal while singing it. Alice in Chains may not have realized it, but they along with Pantera started the whole aggro, angst ridden rock that inspired bands like Korn, Machine Head, and the Union Underground, but sadly AIC never gets the recognition they deserve.
