It was 1990. It was the dawn of a decade ruled by Seattle grunge. The release of "Facelift", the debut album by Alice in Chains, also known as Alice's "Love Album", was a big reason why. "Facelift" contains what many consider to be the perfect rock & roll track, "Man in the Box", and what many more consider to have once been the perfect rock & roll voice, that of frontman Layne Staley. Though both of those statements are definately questionable, the fact that this album is a landmark in not only American music, but American pop culture as well, is definately not. "Facelift" is a masterpiece. I've said it once, and I'll say it again. Nirvana may have invented grunge, but Alice in Chains perfected it.
