Perfect
Review Score:

(10/10)
This is my favorite AiC release, and here's why:
Whenever I've had a horrible day, I can go home and lay back and listen to this amazing piece of art. Here's a description of each song:
1. Rotton Apple-When I think of this song, I think of driving through a city in winter at night--dont ask why. The bass line is killer and the guitar work blends perfectly. Layne's signature double tracked vocals proved succesful once again. 10/10
2. Nutshell-Arguably the best AiC song, Nutshell truly comes from the heart. Layne does an amazing job on the vocals. The acoustic guitar is soothing and mellow, yet sad, (in a VERY good way). The guitar solo at the end is awesome and played with much feeling. 10/10
3. I STAAAAY AWAAY!-I'm sure you've heard this hit on the radio a time or two. The singing is absolutely..it's so good I can't explain it. Jerry, once again, blows the solo through the roof, and the song ends with style. 10/10
4. No Excuses-The first single from the EP. Layne and Jerry's voices combined make the perfect blend you have heard. Jerry sings a bit lower than Layne, who sang tenor. This song is what completed the mini-album. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it still holds the record for most spins in one week one the radio. The guitar solo is simple, but very emotional. Listen to it and you'll see what I mean. 10/10
5. Whale & Wasp-Beautiful instrumental written by the one and only Jerry Cantrell. When the violin kicks in, you'll see what an amazing piece of art this song is. 10/10
6. Don't Follow-This song has always reminded me of Willie Nelson. Accompanied by harmonica, Jerry sings the first half, then Layne rocks than end. AiC really shines in this tune. 10/10
7. Swing On This-Although it didn't really fit in with the rest of the acoustical EP, Swing On This is a gem. I didn't really like it the first time I heard it, but it then quickly grew on me. The sleazy, jazzy type solo is just plain cool. Don't give up on it the first time you hear it. 10/10
So there you have it; the perfect EP. Jar of Flies is a must have, even if you prefer heavier stuff. Just do yourself a favor and buy the friggin album man, you'll see why this is the ONE AND ONLY EP to ever rise to the top of the billboard charts.
RIP Layne Staley
