JAR OF FLIES in some ways picks up where DIRT left off. On this EP, AIC was able to show why they were head and shoulders above Nirvana and Pearl Jam, bands that got all the attention back then. The band was able to completely change thier sound from thundering rock riffs, to more laid back, acostic sounds that still are able to [pull] the listener in. Yes AIC music was dark and haunting, and even played acoustically, it is even more haunting. Just listen to the songs ROTTEN APPLE, NUTSHELL, I STAY to see my point. These 3 songs are hauntingly beautiful with great music and great harmonies being sung by Layne and Jerry. WHALE AND WASP is a great haunting instrumental that shows off even more of the bands talent. NO EXCUSES just rocks your socks off. DONT FOLLOW is just a beautiful song that should be listened to over and over. SWING ON THIS sounds different than the other songs itself, it has a blues type of rocking sound to it. Sadly we will never be able to hear more great music from this band, but what they have left behind is more than enough for us to listen to and to influence guys getting together to jam
