AKUS Featuring JERRY DOUGLAS

On tour AKUS is billed as "AKUS Featuring Jerry Douglas" and this album does just that - features Jerry Douglas. Compare this album to "So Long, So Wrong" and you will immediately realize what a great loss mandolinist Adam Steffey was to the band. (Come back Adam!). This is the first album AKUS has done since Jerry joined the band. The wonderful, soulful sound that the band had on past albums is gone. The album is harsh and abrasive due to the over use of the dobro. As an Alison Krauss fan, this release was okay. As a Union Station fan, this album was a disappointment. But until Jerry seeks greener pastures and a guitarist/mandolinist joins the group, those who long for the prior AKUS sound will continue to be disappointed.
