Regardless of whether you like Emo or not, it's hard to like The Alkaline Trio in general. What many Emo fans will find refreshing about these three Chicago boys is their step away from the normal "I lost the girl, I'm so sad" approach. Lead singer and guitarist Matt Skiba's dark and metaphoric lyrical approach is nothing short of genius, always making sure that the listener is completly involved in the song.

I happen to be a big fan of The Alkaline Trio, and out of their four current albums "Goddamnit!" still reigns supreme. Everything was in place, the musical side of the band was at it's best, and the lyrics themselves are as dark and in depth as ever. And what makes "Goddamnit!" so great is that it can enjoyed by the most hardcore punkers and emo kid's alike, where as normally the division between the two groups is enormous, I suppose you could say this album almost bridges the gap.

Though I usually just let my review of the album speak for itself, I decided to against my normal routine and point out one or two great tracks on the album. Take the opening track "Cringe", wow what a start, with ear splitting guitar work and some dark lyrics. My personal favorite song of the album though is "Clavicle", with a change of pace lyrically for the band. Other great songs include "San Francisco", "Message From Kathleen" and "Trouble Breathing".

"Goddamnit!" is the kind of album you reserve 5 star ratings for, it's just that...good. Fan's of Emo and Punk in general should give this one a shot, you won't regret it.
