What angers about me about my generation, is its acceptence of corporate trash, which is so fluent in the pop culture community. I truly mean pop culture, even though Avril Lavgine is a self-proclaimed punk.

What a punk is in the music industry, is someone who would never sell out, someone whose music would remain underground.

These songs are shallow, catchy, and Avril's voice is frighteningly similiar to Hillary Duff, with its girlish high pitched sound.

Her glorified single, "Complicated" is nothing new, it simply deals with "being yourself" and not trying to be anyone else. True punk music and ideology are not about the self; they have substance and are radically political, dealing with the collective rather than the individual, as in communism or anarchism.

The rest of her songs, like "Losing grip" and "Sk8ter Boi" are equally self absorbed. Not one of her songs show any of that radical spirit of the sixties and seventies when real punk was alive.

This new generation of musicians, are all MTV clones of one another: Avril Lavigne, Brittany Spears, Christina Agularia, Simple Plan, and every rap arstist whose songs are more about their material possessions than their music.

I for one, refuse to be brainwashed into thinking this corporate manipulated music is great art, when music could be less about the artist's paycheck, and more about the music.
