Where were Eric and BB?
They're not on this CD, folks. This CD could've been recorded by anyone. It's a bunch of covers donein a thoroughly un-inspired way. "Riding With the King" is decent, but nothing more. "Marry You" and "I Wanna Be" (both penned by Doyle Bramhall II) were okay, but nothing to get excited about. "Hold On, I'm Coming" was the stand-out track, since it ALMOST showed hints of the talent that make Clapton and King such magnificent performers.
But from there, it went downhill.
There's no disputing that these two are masters of their instrument and of their genre. That's why this album is so disappointing; there's barely a trace of anything uniquely Clapton or King anywhere to be found. Note-perfect reproductions of mediocre songs, even if recorded by masters, don't make a great album.
