Odelay is a hiphop high watermark of the nineties. Beck's vision of folk meets hip hop is fully realised and seameless. This is one of the most essential, influential albums of recent years; see Everlast, eels etc. The rhymes are ironic wordplay art and even the samples are original Beck even samples Bob Dylan on Jackass. If you want emotion and more oblique songwriting see Beck's more recent work if you want a brilliant album listen to this.
