It took me a while to warm up to this one, but now that I have, I can honestly say that it is one of the ten best records of the last decade. I was a fan of Mellow Gold, so this album, which sounds radically different, didn't really grab me right away. Unlike Mellow Gold, which is a bit of a large and oddly shaped pill to swallow, this is a slick, stylish, well crafted record. There isn't a bad song on this one. In fact, I would say every track on Odelay is worthy of being a single. If you like Devil's Haircut, or some of the new stuff on Midnight Vultures, you will probably love the rest of the album. I want Novocaine to play during the opening credits to the movie of my life.
