This was one of my first cds. It's also one of my favorites. I don't know what some of the reviews meant saying that beck was trying "too hard" to be cool. The music IS cool because he was trying something different and it worked out. After all, his music IS alternative. Other than that, this cd is great because all the songs are well done and don't sound much like each other, or any kind of music for that matter.
