First of all, I wanna let it be known that I wouldn't consider myself to be a die-hard fan of DMB, but I did enjoy Under the Table and Dreaming, and I loved the singles from Crash and Before These Crowded Streets, though I never decided to buy those albums as well. Now after saying that, I wanna say that I absolutely love Everyday! Sure it sounds different from the old DMB songs, but I think this album shows how much DMB can rock, and for that I wanna salute them. The only songs that I don't really care for are If I Had It All and Fool to Think (thus the reason for 4 stars cause if those songs were gone this one would get a 5 definitely), but the other songs more than make up for those two missteps, especially The Space Between, Dreams of Our Fathers, What You Are and Everyday. With the exception of the two previously mentioned songs, each and every one of these songs are genuinely special in their own right, and they rock like you've never heard before. I do plan on buying Busted Stuff, but until I do I'll be more than happy listening to Everyday. I think new fans of them should definitely pick this one up for their collection, and the die-hards should really stop bashing them for doing something different. If they actually took the time to listen to the songs, they'd learn that while at first listen they don't really grab you like they should, but by the time you've heard it 3 or 4 times all the songs really come alive and you can't help but loving them. The band did make a dramatic change with this one, but I for one believe they did an excellent job with it. This is a great DMB cd and one that I am very proud to say I own.
