Of all the songs on this album, "Hotel California" got the most radio time world-wide, followed by "New Kid in Town." This album reflects a change of the Eagles sound to a more gritty, rock style. The lyrics is also harsher and more poignant. For example, there is nothing that compares to the lyrics of "Life in the Fast Lane" on the first album. And "The Long Run" reflects all the work and emotional fuel that has been put into the Eagles enterprise. By then the guys have grown out of their earlier selves, like all of us must, and were ready to go their separate ways. This album is fantastic--a true musical slice of Americana.
