"Electro-shock Blues" represented a morose journey with E down a dark alley and into the light. With the maudlin journey completed and the album ending with the words "maybe it's time to live" the stage for "Daisies of the Galaxy" was set. Contained within E is the uncanny ability to write infectious pop tunes. However, E's artistry doesn't end there, simply beginning there and coming to a head in the recording studio. As E himself has said, "I am truly happy in the studio", and listening to any of the eels albums makes that clear. From the grainy drums on "Sound of Fear" to the synthesized chorus on "Flower" (Beautiful Freak), time and again the man called E continually shows himself to be a master of production. "Daisies of the Galaxy" is another trip with E, through the sad, the beautiful, the humorous. The album is superb, leaving the question, "is it possible for this band to make a poor album?" The answer: "no".
