To really understand where E is coming from on this album (you non Eels fans), you must 1.) Read up on the background of "Electro-Shock Blues" and 2.) Listen to "Electro-Shock Blues." That said, it's pretty safe to say that "Daisies of the Galaxy" is just about as good of an album as any follow-up to "Electro Shock" could be. Where his Electro-Shock lyrics were filled with anger, hopelessness, and mourning, this newest album basically sends the same message of "Electro Shock"s final song, "P.S.: You Rock My World." It's going to be okay. This kind of stuff happens, but if you're strong you can get through it. "Goddamn, it's a beautiful day" E sings. That seems to be the sentiment of the whole album. The production and songwriting is more or less the same as "Electro Shock," with more upbeat tunes, of course. Highlights include "Grace Kelly Blues," "Daisies of the Galaxy," and "It's A Motherf#&!@r," whose title is a polar opposite of the beautiful piano and string work on the track. In the end, "Daisies of the Galaxy"s only flaw is the fact that many of the songs generally sound the same. WIth a few listenings, however, they will seperate, and this album become as strong as "Electro Shock Blues." It's therapy. Thank you, E.
