Electric Light Orchestra

Discovery

Another winner from ELO

Review Score: StarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStar (10/10)
In June of 1979, English rockers Electric Light Orchestra a/k/a/ ELO released their album Discovery. Some apparently call this album DISCO VERY as a parody of the title. The album was ELO's biggest seller in the US with 2 million copies sold and a #5 chart position but some called Discovery ELO's kiss of death. However, guitarist/vocalist/chief songwriter/producer Jeff Lynne, bass player Kelly Groucutt, keyboardist Richard Tandy and drummer Bev Bevan created another great album. The album had two US Top 10 hits with the opening disco rocker Shine a Little Love and the closing anthemic Don't Bring Me Down. Last Train to London was a Top 40 hit as was the Roy Orbison sounding Confusion. Other standouts are Need Her Love and Wishing. Considering today's music, this album still sounds great IMHO and don't let any young person disrespect the great ELO. Highly recommended!
