Sounded great, two extras disappointed

I enjoyed this album when it came out in May of 1979. I remember just after my freshman year of college ended, and this was the album all the pop stations played on our many road trips down to Galveston that summer. What I thought were weak cuts then turned out stronger now. The remastering helped tons! I have a new appreciation for "Need Her Love" even though back in '79 I thought it had one verse too many. "Wishing" brings back sad memories of love lost, but hey, a little nostalgia is good for the soul (I wonder what happened to Sharon...)!

Onto the additions. This album would have rated an extra half star from me if Jeff had left off the "On the Run" and "Second Time Around" samples! The Del Shannon song, "Little Town Flirt" is not tune you'd expect from a band who did the Eldorado album, but, as a quartet (with the second dubbed acoustic guitar in 2001) they sound like they had a lot of fun doing it. There had to be something else Jeff could have put in here, but what? I know they were touring for the "Out of the Blue" when they recorded DiscoVery (a Richard Tandy quip), but a different bonus would have helped.

So, summing up... sound: great, bonus tracks: 1 great, 2 bad! I'd give 3.5 stars, but can't, so I'll round up.
