A More Complete "Time"

ELO's "Time" is a fascinating experiment: a concept album about future travel in which the music is an attempt to mimic a futuristic sound. I had heard that this was to be a double album, with some material that was left off, and with some material that ended up on "Secret Messages." I very much wish it had been a double album, because there is a full story between the two albums. But, since that point is moot, the best thing that could have happened here is the addition of the three bonus tracks, "The Bouncer," "When Time Stood Still," and "Julie Don't Live Here." I had hear these on the "Afterglow" compilation and fell in love with all three. I couldn't understand how such powerful pop songs (especially "Julie") didn't make the cut. Perhaps it was a consideration of space. That said, these great tracks are here. The only thing that could have been better is if they'd been inserted into the other material before the Epilogue. They are an integral part of the story that "Time" tells.
