Yuck.
Review Score:

(4/10)
"Le Roi Est Mort, Vive Le Roi" - first, I'd like to correct somebody's previous review--it's FRENCH, NOT Latin, for "The King is Dead...Long Live the King." Now, with that said, we can get to more unpleasant things. I must admit that I don't like Cretu's voice much at all. He sounds strained, hammy, and monotonic. His wife's whispering, especially on the prelude to "Beyond the Invisible" sounds INCREDIBLY STUPID and uninspired. The background music sounds like Muzak-in-a-Can. If you've heard it once, you've heard it all already. It doesn't look like very much effort went into this CD.
I hear people rave about the chanting and everything. Well, I like chanting very much--but I don't think Cretu knows what he's doing. If you want electronica mixed with chanting, buy a Delerium album, maybe "Poem" or "Karma." Either that or go for a pure Gregorian Chant album. Don't waste your money on this garbage.
All in all, I was expecting much, much more...Enigma sounded great on Pure Moods II. However, after hearing this album, I have decided to get rid of this trashy CD and stick with Delerium, Enya, and Loreena McKennitt. You know--artists with talent.
