When Enrique Iglesias released his first album, I simply thought he was taking advantage of his father's celebrity to earn a success he did not actually deserve. Therefore, I systematically refused to listen to any of his songs (which was hard considering his singles were continuously on the radio). In fact, one could say that not liking his music was like a precept for me.
However, last year, I was listening to the radio and the single "Hero" started playing. Although I knew he was the one singing it, it simply moved me in a way I could not avoid. So, after almost four months trying to fight it, I finally decided to buy the cd, telling myself that I would only listen to that one song... and that's what I did... until, last month, I decided to give the rest of the album a try. I was really impressed. Even in the cd's by artists I really love, I usually have to skip at least half of the songs in order to get to the ones I actually enjoy... Not with "Escape". I love every single song. The sensuality of Enrique Iglesias's voice, in perfect concordance with the words, in my opinion, lead this artist to have a unique style. I really don't understand those who compare him to artists like Marc Anthony and Ricky Martin. In fact, I actually see him more as an American than as a Latin singer. Yet, there is a Latin touch in every song (except "Hero") that gives his work a very special character.
I would definitely recommend you to give this album a try. You won't be disappointed.
