Don't believe the hype!!!

Sorry folks. I've never worshipped at the Clapton altar and after buying this cd, I still don't see the reason why people deify this guy. Technically, yes, he's got some serious chops. I have to give him that. But as far as having any soul or passion - he just ain't got it. You want to talk about people with chops, give me Stevie Ray, Buddy Guy or Ronnie Earle anyday. Wanna talk about soul, give me Robert Cray or Joe Louis Walker. Wanna talk true blues, give me any of the three Kings (B.B., Albert or Freddie). Wanna talk "hard to categorize" guitarists, give me Carlos or Jeff Beck. The worst thing about Clapton is that he just plain can't sing! Maybe that's what really bugs me about him, he should not be allowed near a microphone with that tiny, thin voice of his. I bought this cd because I wanted to really try to like this guy. I'll probably listen to it again. This is the fifth Clapton cd or album that I've bought through the years and it'll probably start it's dust collecting phase right after I play it again. Oh, yeah. The killer is that a whole lot of this stuff was on Crossroads 2. What a rip!
