After nearly a decade when the Eurythmics called it quits, it seemed luck had run out for the magnificent duo. Annie's last solo album "Medusa" failed to generate anybody's interest, while Dave's solo projects were mostly considered a dry run for somebody that had been working in the studio for years. But upon their return, Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart seem to be more motivated and inspired than any of their previous work. The album opens with a beautiful ballad which celebrates the duo's history together, and ends with a line from the very famous "Sweet Dreams" which was a major breakthrough for them. Although some songs on the album lack consistency such as "Anything But Strong" which has more of a mechanical feel to it, and loaded with a lot of sound which can easily be mistaken for a William Orbit song. Some of the highlights of the album include the high-driven stonesy "Power To The Meek" which celebrates about being alive, "Forever" which dips into a late beatles era, "Peace Is Just A Word" with a slow beginning but picks up speed as the song progresses. This album should be a celebration for Dave and Annie, rather than a reunion album. Hands down to Annie & Dave, they deserve much more credit than what the critics usually say about this album.
