eurythmics make mellow, but it's all right

As a self-proclaimed Annie freak in the 80's you'd think I am biased and unable to evaluate Eurythmics objectively. Not so. I have been much unimpressed with Annie's output since E's broke up the first time (with the exception of her singles). The new album is pretty damn good though. It is very tuneful and Annie is still writing those twisted painful lyrics sung with that voice. Steely, weary, wavering...all beautiful. I must say however that I would like to hear Annie's voice cutting through some icy synth lines just like the good old days. None of that is going on here.
