The beginning of the end for Lennox & Stewart!

After loosening up and having fun with BE YOURSELF TONIGHT, apparently it seemed the Eurythmics could only get so upbeat after a while. REVENGE was the document of a group slowly but surely calling it quits. With a more pronounced rock edge, songs like the album's solitary hit single "Missionary Man", "Thorn In My Side", and "The Last Time" more than hinted at the disintegrating relationship between Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart. Although romantically involved at one time (they ended their relationship before they began recording), they seemed to be made for each other when it came to making music. And with albums like REVENGE, and the sequel SAVAGE, that professional relationship was on the outs.
