I remember when DJ Clue released his "Professional Part 1" CD. Fabolous Sport was featured on the radio friendly "That's The Way" with Mase and Foxy Brown. You may have thought that Mase dropped two verses and Foxy had one as well but actually the latter verse was from Fabolous. "If They Want It", which was a solo track by Fabolous was definitely tight and I could tell he had potential for sure. Anytime that DJ Clue released one of his famous mixed CDs, Fabolous was featured on a freestyle and everytime I heard him he was tight. On DJ Clue's "Backstage: Hard Knock Life", Fabolous had another solo track, "Gotta Be Thug" and that was also a nice track from him. However, what probably pushed Fabolous' need for a solo CD to the forefront, was his appearance on Lil Mo's "Superwoman" (Remix). Fabolous rips two verses on that song and that , in my opinion, was the deciding factor to bring out "Ghetto Fabolous". From there he was featured on DJ Clue's "Fantastic Four Part 2" with The LOX, Cam'ron and Nature and on Jimmy Cozier's "She's All I Got" (Remix). The first single from "Ghetto Fabolous" is the very impressive "Can't Deny It" w/Nate Dogg. This is a certified hit without a doubt. The Rick Rock track could bump in a Fisher Price radio and I am for real. Fabolous is asserting himself on this one and Nate Dogg is there for a nice assist. From there, there is a balance of the thug and gangsta hits and the always placed radio tracks as well. The Clue and Duro produced, "Click & Spark" get the CD off to a good start as Clue gives his always noticed shouts and sayings at the beginning. It's a good thing that he is only doing this on one track and not the whole CD. The CD's best track is clearly the Omen produced, "One Day". This talks about Fabolous' dreams and aspirations of becoming a rapper, as he takes a break from the usual thug theme of the CD. Other notworthy tracks are "Keepin' It Gangsta", the Neptunes produced "Young'n", "We Don't Give A", "The Bad Guy" and "Trade It All" w/Jagged Edge". As an added bonus, you also get "Gotta Be Thug" and "If They Want It" as bonus tracks 16 and 17 on the CD. Although, the Mase comparisons will never stop, Fabolous has unlimited potential. DJ Clue has him definitely going in the right direction. "Ghetto Fabolous" should definitely be in your collection. Also check him out on Mary J. Blige's "Family Affair" (Remix). Jadakiss and Fabolous rip their verses for sure. Then you too can be part of the F A B O L O U S family.
