Standing the test of time ?Stripsearch', ?Last Cup of Sorrow', ?Mouth to Mouth', ?Ashes to Ashes' and ?She Loves Me Not' are the tracks I keep coming back to. The album is typically diverse, ?Collision' opening as a heavy speed-based affair followed by ?Stripsearch' which immediately contradicts the mood (FNM fashion) and mellows out, some great keyboard work too. ?Ashes to Ashes' is an inspiring piece of work , an uplifting and very powerful chorus which send shivers down my spine. It took time for ?Pristina' to grab my attention but the one and only track which still fails to jump out at me is ?Home Sick Home', but I'm still trying to convince myself it's because I haven't given it a chance. I guess I just can't accept the fact there might be a Faith No More song I don't like...
The fresh funk that was the core of Faith No More still shines through(ie: ?Mouth to Mouth') but tucked in between darker moodier ?Angel Dust' styled tracks. Taking the best of Faith No More, the dark side (Angel Dust) and the light side (Real Thing), ?Album of the Year' is the perfect summary of a creative and unique band whose music knew no limits.
