If you are a true fan of Faith No More then I don't think you'll argue too harshly that this is inferior to such classics as The Real Thing and Angel Dust. But at least it was an improvement on the psycho-Kornfest that was King For A Day. It opens off pretty damn well with the syncopated rage of Collision, the sultry Stripsearch and the Single Of The Year, Last Cup Of Sorrow. It has the most drive out of any song here, and who can't resist those bells in the background? This song will stay in your head for DAYS!!!! Naked In Front Of The Computer and Helpless follow strongly (the last 10 seconds of the latter is soooooo cool), but it goes downhill from there. Mouth To Mouth is basically a pipe organ supporting Mike Patton's Fantomas-like spasms, not too interesting, while Home Sick Home and Pristina provide a weak exit to FNM's final album of original material. Also worth checking out is Ashes To Ashes and, next to Last Cup Of Sorrow, the best track, their liveliest track to date (Got That Feeling). So while a few weak tunes keep it from being the album of the year, it also contains some of the best songs FNM has ever written, and is well worth checking out. So raise it up, and let's propose a toast... to the thing that rules the most...
