..."never mind the bollocks" for the hearing impaired

...saw these guys in 1978 opening up for the Dead Boys and the Minutemen at a Lady Bird Johnson benefit for highway beautification in Austin. Stiv Bators and D-Boon joined the guys for an absolute rocked out version of Cold as Ice that evolved into a "bring down the house" version of Sonic Reducer...i remember (barely) a very strung out Richard Hell attempting to claw his way onto the stage under the misconception that what he thought was a warped version of the MC-5's Kick out the Jams was actually a relatively tepid version of Hot Blooded (these were twisted times, actually)....lou gramm and mick jones didn't miss a beat, however and welcomed the intrusion by turning the volume up to 10+ and blasting into an Arena Rock version on Blank Generation...although Lady Bird Johnson was normally a straight laced fan of Texas Swing watching her pogo to the encore (a combination of Feels like the First Time and the Minutemen's Jesus and Tequila) made me want to beautify every highway in America.
